Illinois amends blood donation leave rule

The rule was amended to comply with Public Act 95-354, L. 2007, which allows employees more than one hour to donate blood and more than 2 hours to donate blood platelets, in accordance with the Organ Donor Leave Act. Previously, an employee was only permitted up to one hour to donate blood every 56 days and up to 2 hours to donate blood platelets. In addition, an employee is only permitted to use the leave only after obtaining approval from the employee's agency (Title 80, Subtitle B, Chapter 1, Part 332, Section 332.4, as amended effectived June 1, 2009).
